10 things to do that are local to Savigné

Our 25 things to do in 2025 list has proven really popular so we’re creating some more local lists for you to help you plan your holiday here at the gîtes! Here are 10 things to do that are within roughly 10 mins’ drive from our gîtes in Savigné for days where you don’t fancy travelling too far but would still like something to do.

1. Visit Station Minimodels to browse & shop

3km, 4min drive
There are a few shops local to us, and this is one of the quirkier ones (in a great way!) - you can browse a large collection of mini model cars, and buy one to take home if you’re a collector!

2. Playful Riverside Walk in Civray (Parcours de santé)

4km, 6min drive
Riverside walk from Civray town to Resto’fil de l’O (a campsite café/restaurant) with fun wooden challenges along the route. At the café, you can get food, drink, ice cream, see the goats grazing nearby, and sometimes listen to live music.

3. Browse Civray’s market every Tuesday and Friday

4km, 6min drive
Every Tuesday and Friday there are markets in Civray town centre. There are more stalls during the high season months in the summer but the market runs throughout the year. You can find clothes, local produce, and more!

4. Visit Le Cormenier museum

7km, 8min drive
A local interactive museum showcasing rural life in the early 20th century.

5. Chateau d' Epanvilliers and museum of games

8km, 9min drive
For history enthusiasts and board gamers, this is a historic castle featuring a museum dedicated to traditional games.

6. Get lost in Labrinthe Végétal!

6.5km, 10min drive
A maize maze, plus other outdoor activities, open selected months of the year (usually April and May, July and August, and October). Our girls loved visiting this maze as children and in their early teens.

7. See the monkeys at La Vallée des Singes

9km, 12min drive
Just over 10 mins’ drive will get you to La Vallée des Singes, a primate park home to various species of monkeys and apes in a natural setting. This is one of Mike’s favourite places to visit locally and we have our own annual passes!

8. Swim in the lake at Plan d’eau de Saint-Macoux

11km, 13min drive
Saint-Macoux is a place we’ve visited many times. There’s a designated swimming area in the lake (with a slide!), pétanque pitch, walks around the lake, and a café. A great spot to visit locally.

9. Explore the abbey in Charroux

12km, 15min drive
Just a quarter of an hour away is the town of Charroux, where you’ll find a local church and a beautiful abbey.

10. Browse the local Brocantes

Locations vary, some are very local
Brocantes are like a great car boot sale. Some brocantes stretch for what seems like miles, with gems to be found! Have a search on Google to see which Brocantes are on during your stay, or ask us to find out for you.
